This course is suitable for all staff who have public facing roles in sectors including: retail, hospitality, healthcare, the railway, public transport, prisons and schools.

Course objectives

  • Understand what policies are in place to support staff in difficult situations which might
    result in conflict and/or violence in the work place. We will tailor this to your company’s
    own values/policies.
  • Explore how our behaviour affects others.
  • Explore some of the additional needs and other factors such as poor mental health, that can affect an individual’s behaviour.
  • Explore conflict management techniques.
  • Explore de-escalation techniques and keeping yourself safe.
  • Recognise and understand when an individual is becoming aggressive.
  • Explore the laws around self-defence.
